THE ASSOCIATED GROCERS - GMRA SCHOLARSHIP
HISTORY
The Grocery Manufacturers Representatives Association (GMRA) is a nonprofit organization formed in Louisiana to bring grocery manufacturers and retailers together. The organization is comprised of approximately 80 companies and is dedicated to preventing trade abuses, promoting uniformity and certainties in business practices, and establishing confidence among sellers, buyers, and sales representatives.
ELIGIBILITY
Must be employed part-time by an Associated Grocers-affiliated grocery store
Must be enrolled/enrolling full-time at an accredited university or college
AWARD
The scholarship is awarded for a period of eight semesters (fall and spring only) for a maximum award value of $13,000. The first two semesters are awarded $500 each, the second two will be $1,500 each, the third two will be $2,000 each, and the final two semesters will be $2,500 each. The applicant must continue to meet all criteria requirements each semester for continuation of the scholarship.

Letter of recommendation from store manager confirming employment (must be on official letterhead and include the store number, date, and manager’s signature)
Essay response to one of the following writing prompts:
“Why are you considering a career in the grocery industry?”
“How is working in the grocery industry helping prepare you for your career choice?”
